Those offensive Easter Eggs

A Seattle school made headlines when administrators insisted that Easter Eggs be referred to as “Spring Spheres.” The City of Seattle is going to new lengths in order not to offend its citizens. The city’s parks department has removed “Easter” from “Easter Eggs.” Now, the kids simply go on “Egg Hunts.” In order to comply with Separation of Church and State, the city felt it necessary to remove the offensive term, “Easter” from this long-held tradition.

If a person wants to have an egg hunt at home, it’s okay to call it an Easter Egg hunt, but if it’s sponsored by the community, it must simply be an “Egg Hunt.” With a community comprised of people who are Jewish, Christian, Atheist, Agnostic, and more, then it must be politically correct to remove the Christian term, “Easter” from the language associated with this tradition. Doing so ensures that the community is inclusive and caring.
