Portions of King Solomon's Wall Found

A section of an ancient city wall of Jerusalem from the tenth century B.C.E., most likely built by King Solomon has been revealed in archaeological excavations directed by Dr. Eilat Mazar.

The section of the city wall revealed, 70 meters long and six meters high, is located between the old City of David and the southern wall of the Temple Mount where an Islam mosque is currently located..

Uncovered in the city wall complex are: an inner gatehouse for access into the royal quarter of the city, a royal structure adjacent to the gatehouse, and a corner tower that overlooks a substantial section of the adjacent Kidron valley.

A comparison of this latest finding with city walls and gates from the period of the First Temple, as well as pottery found at the site, have enabled authorities to determine that the wall is the very one which was built by King Solomon in Jerusalem in the latter part of the tenth century B.C.E. Figurines and seal impressions on jar handles with the word “to the king” were found in the area, testifying to their usage within the monarchy.

This finding has incensed Palestinians because it has caused Israel to dig in its heels against the Palestinian’s demands that the part of Jerusalem and the West Bank be given to the Palestinians. The Palestinians say they see this as a new plot to destroy their dream of an independent state with Jerusalem as their capital.

Netanyahu said the site must be preserved by the state because it shows Israelis owned the land in ancient times, a key element in Israelis' claim that they have a legitimate and historical right to this area. The Israeli government appears to be seeking to elevate the heritage issue, possibly to counter growing international outrage at Israel's continued occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

This latest discovery of the ancient stone fortifications in Jerusalem by Israeli archaeologist Eilat Mazar is likely to cause quite a storm in the unfolding conflict over both sides' claims to historical legitimacy as possessors of disputed lands.

Both Israel and the Palestinians claim the holy city as their capital. The Palestinians want East Jerusalem as the capital of the state they are driving to proclaim. This new discovery however, establishes that Jews possessed the city of Jerusalem in the 10th century B.C., as described in the Bible.

In spite of the fact that Christianity sprang from Judaism, the European Union has called for Israel to divide the city of Jerusalem and give half the city to the Palestinians, leaving few others besides the United States as friends of Israel. The Government Has Big Plans For Grandma

Seniors, for the first time since 1975, you are being told that you won’t be receiving an annual cost of living increase in your monthly Social Security benefits. At the same time, your Medicare premiums are going up. Not to worry though, your compassionate and caring government isn’t abandoning you. You may have less money to spend this next year, but on the other hand, you may not have to live on such meager funds for long because your government is going to help you plan on how long you need to continue living. Section 1233 of House Bill 3200 intends to help you make plans on the manner in which you should die. In the government’s eyes, that’s great news for you, and it’s great news for the government. If you’re dead, you won’t need to be concerned about not receiving an increase in your monthly benefits, and your government won’t have to spend any more money out of its already over-stretched budget. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Under this new law, doctors will be paid for having an advance care planning consultation with a patient. Are you frightened? Don’t worry. The consultation won’t be mandatory, at least not for now. Who is it that must listen to these end-of-life consultations? The crippled? The sick? The terminally ill? No, your government will set up this program for the benefit of every person who becomes a certain age. So imagine if you will, a healthy and athletic 70 year old who sees his doctor about a simple injury. Because of his age, his doctor will discuss the undeniable fact that he isn’t getting any younger; therefore it’s time for him to decide how he is going to pass on from this life to the next.

On the other end of the spectrum, imagine an 85 year old non-productive and non-athletic person who needs to have his hip replaced due to an accidental fall on an icy sidewalk. In this case, the doctor may tell him that his Universal Health coverage won’t pay for his needed surgery due to his advanced age, but it will be happy to provide plenty of pain pills. “By the way, the doctor will say, “it’s really time for us to discuss your end-of-life options.”

In many states, the end-of-life discussion will be focused on enlightenment regarding available services such as hospice, and the withholding of nutrients and hydration. However, for those citizens who live in the states of Oregon, Washington and Montana, receiving a prescription for a lethal dose of drugs will also be discussed.

Technically, under this new law, a patient will not be required to take part in that advance care planning consultation. If the patient refuses that consultation however, the physician may not be able to provide any other medical services. This would be due to the fact that the government would not be willing to pay for additional services to patients who refuse to participate in the end-of-life consultation.

One by one, states are changing their laws to fit in with the federal government’s plans for its senior citizens. Montana has followed the lead of Oregon and Washington, to permit physician-assisted suicide. In December, 2009, the Montana Supreme Court determined that withholding nutrients and hydration is not compassionate enough. Now, doctors can prescribe drugs for the purpose of ending a person’s life more quickly.

How did this happen? The utilization of step-by-step reasoning and logic led to this decision. The court determined that the prohibition of assisted suicide violates the right to privacy and the right to dignity guaranteed in the Montana constitution. The court determined that it is a fundamental right for people to die with dignity—meaning in the case at hand, to commit suicide by a drug overdose.

Following a flawed progression of logic, the court determined that in the absence of an overdose of drugs (a dignified method of suicide), a person is left with no choice but to end his life by gunshot or some otherwise unpleasant method that violates his dignity and peace of mind. Missing from the court’s reasoning was any discussion regarding the necessity of suicide in the first place.

A major contributing factor to Montana’s pro-suicide decision was a previous Montana decision regarding the legality of abortions. That previous ruling suggested that the Montana Constitution demands that people have for themselves the moral right and moral responsibility to confront the most fundamental questions of life in general, and answering to their own consciences and convictions.

Who's Standing Up For Israel?

It seems obvious who is standing up for Israel. First of all, God is on Israel’s side. Then there are the American Christians along with a few other Christians around the world. Finally, there are the Jews themselves. Well…at least some of the Jews.

Israel has many concerns in the world today, but one of their biggest concerns is a certain degree of apathy among American Jews. Content to take care of their own lives, too many American Jews have not insisted on making their voices be heard.

Like others in today’s societies, too many American Jews are content to offer monetary support without offering any other much-needed support. According to the actions of many American Jews, politely supporting their mother-country from the sidelines seems to be their only answer to Israel’s needs. The lack of American Jewish voices in the direction that Israel is taking is a grave concern for God’s nation.

Similar difficulties materialize in other societies around the world. The United States is currently traveling down a pathway that is contrary to the position of many of its citizens. For any nation or society to move in the right direction, its citizens must insist that their voices be heard. If the only opinions heard are the minority opinions, societies will begin drifting away from the cultures and traditions of those in the majority. This upside-down evolution of societal trends is both scandalous and suicidal. It must change, and change soon.

What exactly, is Homophobia?

Phobias are common in our society. There’s a phobia term for nearly every fear that exists. We’ve all heard of Arachnophobia which is the fear of spiders. Another common phobia is Chemophobia, the fear of chemicals. There are quite a few people who are affected by Clithrophobia, the fear of being enclosed in a tight space. And, there’s quite a number of lesser known phobias. Nevertheless, we can easily identify with them. There is Tomophobia-The fear of surgical operations, Glossophobia-The fear of speaking in public, Altophobia-The fear of heights, Isolophobia-The fear of being alone, Scelerophobia-The fear of burglars and other bad men, Lygophobia-The fear of darkness, Toxophobia-The fear of being poisoned, Dentophobia-The fear of dentists, and Brontophobia-The fear of thunder and lightning. There is one interesting phobia however, that deserves your close attention: Homophobia-The fear of homosexuality or of becoming homosexual. “So what?” you may say. “I don’t fear homosexuality, and I certainly don’t fear that I’ll become a homosexual, therefore I’m not homophobic.” This all sounds perfectly logical, so what’s the problem?

It’s a bigger problem than you might think. Look up homophobia in the dictionary and you might find a different definition. First, let’s try Merriam-Webster. Go to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/homophobia and see what it says about homophobia. The dictionary seems to add a little bit to the meaning of homophobia. Instead of simply fearing homosexuality, the dictionary suggests that homophobia is an irrational fear of homosexuality, an aversion to homosexuality, and discrimination against homosexuality. So, if you happen to think of homosexuality in a manner that some would consider to be irrational, you are homophobic.

Another modern viewpoint of homophobia is offered by Wikipedia. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homophobia and see what it has to say about the fear of homosexuality. This definition of homophobia suggests that it is an irrational intolerance of homosexuality which is outside the bounds of traditional gender role expectations. Wikipedia expands even further beyond the simple fear of homosexuality. It suggests that homophobia covers a full range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality, including antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion and finally an irrational fear. Still not through, it states that homophobia is not unlike racism, anti-Semitism and bigotry.

Suddenly, according to modern definitions, you may qualify as a homophobe. If homosexuality is adverse to your way of living, or if you believe only in the traditional gender role of heterosexuality, or even if you are prone to publically express arguments that heterosexuality is the right and proper lifestyle, then you are a homophobe. You are no better than such low-life’s as racists, anti-Semites and bigots.

What is wrong here? Dozens and dozens of listed phobias refer to a simple fear of some particular situation. But when it comes to homophobia, virtually anything outside of love and promotion of the homosexual lifestyle is considered to be homophobia. Not being able to express your own position against this lifestyle is like not being permitted to state your position against drug abuse.

This is a good time to sit up and take notice of the shows on TV, and of those people who are reporting on homosexuality. You will find the term, Homophobe used rather frequently. If you pay close attention to the context of these statements, you will discover that anything short of complete acceptance and support of homosexuality is labeled as homophobia. We as a society, are being indoctrinated to accept a new and evolving definition of homophobia.

“Well, it’s not me,” you might say. “I’m not accepting those new definitions, and I’m not about to support that lifestyle.” Are you sure? Are you making your voice heard?

In the news today, is talk of repealing of the military’s Don’t ask—Don’t tell policy. First, let’s go back to the history of this policy. Since the early 1900’s service men have been discharged from the military if it was found that they were homosexuals. Later, the discharges were differentiated. In the 1940’s, service men who were found to be homosexuals, were discharged as undesirables. If those homosexual men happened to be actually be engaging in homosexual activities, they were dishonorably discharged.

Then in 1993, President Clinton signed the Don’t ask—Don’t tell policy into law. Under this new law, homosexuals in the military became acceptable. The Pentagon’s new policy guidelines stated that: Sexual orientation will not be a bar to service unless manifested by homosexual conduct. The military will discharge members who engage in homosexual conduct, which is defined as a homosexual act, a statement that the member is homosexual or bisexual, or a marriage or attempted marriage to someone of the same gender.

With the stroke of a pen, our nation began its trip down the road toward acceptance, sensitivity and finally promotion of the homosexual lifestyle. “But that policy still did not permit open homosexuality in the military,” you might say. That’s true, but there’s still a big problem with that policy. Our nation would not have stood for outright opening the doors to homosexuals. So, this was one of Shadow Truth’s baby steps toward the promotion of homosexuality. People’s opinions cannot change overnight, but over time, anything is possible. For many years, homosexuality was outright denied access to the military. However, intolerance gradually evolved into acceptance. By the year 1993, 44 percent of Americans supported the idea that homosexuals could openly serve in the military. By 2008, a whopping 75 percent of Americans approved of that policy. What about Christians? What do they think? In 2009, the Don’t ask—Don’t tell policy was favored by 60 percent of weekly churchgoers. In the short 16 years since President Clinton signed Don’t ask—Don’t tell into law, a new generation of Americans has been raised in an atmosphere of greater acceptance. Even among older Americans, views of homosexuality have softened. So, with the support of favorable polls, and to standing applause by his listeners, President Obama promised the Democratic National Committee to abolish “don’t ask, don’t tell.”

Little by little, step by step, and inch by inch, we have redefined homophobia. Political Correctness has singled out one phobia among dozens of other phobias, and changed its definition. The Christian majority has given its implied approval of such redefinitions. Had they not done so, they would have voted for more conservative leaders who in turn, would not have changed our laws as they have done.

How many friends does Israel have left?

It comes as no surprise to hear that many of the countries in the Middle East are not fond of Israel. What may surprise you is to hear that the European Union is also closing the door on friendship with Israel.

Early in 2010, the European Foreign Ministers created a document which calls for Israel to divide Jerusalem, thereby permitting the Palestinians to claim East Jerusalem as their capital city. Sweden, which holds the European Union presidency, presented the document to its members.

There’s just one problem with this suggestion: Israel considers the City of Jerusalem to be its indivisible capital. Nevertheless, Europe which supports an official Palestinian state is moving forward with this recommendation. Furthermore, the EU document states that it does not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, especially in regard to Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem.

Although Europe has deep Christian roots, it is becoming more and more sympathetic to Islam-related issues. Why is that? Perhaps it is due to their stepped-up immersion in political correctness during recent years. As Muslims migrate into Europe, Christians are being pressured to be tolerant and sensitive to Muslim traditions, while at the same time, suppressing their own traditions and cultures. “But that is Europe,” you might say. “At least the United States is still supporting Israel.” Perhaps so, but look at the trends here in this country. At every turn, we are also being pressured to accept and even promote the Muslim way of life. If this trend continues, we too, may someday call for Israel to give up that which God has given them.

Is it Irresponsible to Have Babies?

Jonathon Porritt, a British government advisor has stated that couples who have more than two children are being irresponsible by creating an unbearable burden on the world's environment. This supporter of the Sustainable Development Commission and patron of the Optimum Population Trust believes that population control will have a greater impact on the reduction of Global Warming than any other program. He has been attributed to the statement that the curbing of population growth through contraception and abortion must be at the heart of policies to fight global warming, and that the government must improve family planning, even if it means shifting money from curbing illness to increasing contraception and abortion.

More and more, governments are being pressured to institute mandatory programs for reducing population growth. The British Optimum Population Trust states that the lifetime CO2 emissions of just one UK citizen are equivalent of 620 airline flights between London and New York. The Chinese government, which has had a one-child family policy for quite some time now, states that through its program, it has prevented at least 400 million births. China proudly boasts that its population control program has resulted in the greatest CO2 abatement achievement since Kyoto came into force.

The Optimum Population Trust produced a briefing which stated that the world finally woke up to the climate change problem in 2007. Continuing on, the briefing stated that one of the fundamental causes of climate change is human population growth. This influential organization purports that the most effective and also the most cost-effective global climate change strategy is achieved through limiting the size of the world's population.

Abortion is the new contraceptive. By steadily re-defining abortion as a woman’s right to eliminate that which is not much more than so much biological tissue from her body, our society is preparing itself to devalue human life even further. Britain has become the abortion capital of Europe, ranking fifth in the world behind Russia, the U.S. India and Japan. Teenage pregnancy rates in Britain have skyrocketed over the past decade with half of all pregnancies among girls under 18 now ending in abortion.

Who would have ever thought that governments would consider mandatory child-birth policies as the number one method of saving money and reducing the world’s carbon footprint? Who would have thought that one day, abortion would be a required solution to a couple’s indiscretions?
